CHOCOLATE PASTRIES IN BRUSSELS

The Unusual Brussels — Chocolate Café

If your walking around Brussels and you smell something chocolatey coming from a cafe — thats probably us. We bake chocolate pastries fresh every single day at The Unusual on Rue Montagne aux Herbes Potagères 49, right near Brussels Central Station.

Our pain au chocolat is the one people keep coming back for. Real Belgian chocolate inside, buttery dough outside, warm from the oven most mornings. Its not fancy, its just done right. We've had tourists from Grand Place wander in just because they smelled it from the street. Happens more then you'd think.

We also do chocolate croissants, chocolate filled cookies, and seasonal chocolate pastries that change depending on what our baker feels like making. In winter we lean into dark chocolate. In summer, lighter chocolate fillings with fruit. The Marollen market crowd sometimes swings by on Sunday mornings before heading down the hill — they know what's good.

Alot of people ask if we have vegan chocolate pastries. Yes we do. Not every day, but most days theres at least one option thats plant-based and chocolate. Same goes for gluten-free — we try to keep something available, just ask at the counter and we'll tell you whats fresh.

Our chocolate pastries in Brussels are made with Belgian chocolate from local suppliers. No cheap compound stuff. You can taste the difference, honestly. Whether you grab one with your morning coffee or take a few for the train ride to Bruges, they travel pretty well in our paper bags.

We're open every day on Rue Montagne aux Herbes Potagères, between Grand Place and the Central Station. Drop by for a chocolate pastry and a coffee. Thats a solid Brussels morning right there.
