WE BAKE FRESH CROISSANTS & PAINS AU CHOCOLAT EVERY DAY IN BRUSSELS
Every morning at The Unusual, fresh croissants arrive. Golden, warm, and flaky in a way that makes you forget whatever you were worried about five minutes ago. Thats the power of a good croissant. Don't underestimate it.
We're on rue Montagne aux Herbes Potagères 49, Bruxelles, right between Grand Place and Central Station in Brussels. People walking by in the morning can smell them before they see them. The butter, the pastry, that warmth — its basically a Brussels morning alarm clock.
Our croissants are classic butter croissants done the way they should be. The outside shatters when you bite in. The inside is soft, layered, and buttery. We also carry pain au chocolat and seasonal filled croissants, but the plain butter one is still the star. Sometimes simple is best.
"Best croissants near Grand Place?" — we hear that search question turned into a real question at our counter all the time. The answer is always "you're in the right place." People from Ilôt Sacré, les Marolles, and around Bourse have made the morning croissant run part of their routine.
WHY CHOOSE THE UNUSUAL
Pairing matters. A croissant with an espresso is classic Brussels. A croissant with a cappuccino is indulgent. A pain au chocolat with a matcha latte — sounds weird but it works. Trust us on that one.
We carry vegan pastry options too, so if you're plant-based, you're not stuck watching everyone else eat croissants while you sip your coffee sadly.
Heres the honest truth: our croissants sell out. Come before 11 if you want the full selection. By afternoon, the basket is usually looking pretty empty. Early bird gets the croissant. Thats not the saying, but it should be.
The Unusual, rue Montagne aux Herbes Potagères 49, Bruxelles. Fresh croissants in Brussels every morning. Open every day.
