BAKERY IN BRUSSELS CITY CENTRE
The bakery at The Unusual isn't huge, but everything in it is fresh. Every single day. We don't do day-old pastries. When something's gone, its gone, and tomorrow we start over with a new batch.
Our bakery items include the things you'd hope for: butter croissants, pain au chocolat, chocolate muffins, cookies that people literally come back just for, cinnamon rolls, and bagels. We also keep vegan bakes and gluten-free options — because a bakery in Brussels city centre should have something for everyone.
We're on rue Montagne aux Herbes Potagères 49, Bruxelles between Grand Place and Central Station. A lot of people from the Marollen and around Sainte-Catherine swing by in the morning for a pastry and a coffee. Office workers from near Bourse grab a bagel on their commute. Tourists pick up a croissant before heading to the Manneken Pis. Its a mix, and we like it that way.
People ask: "Is there a good bakery near Grand Place?" or "Where can I get fresh pastries near Brussels Central?" Yesss. Right here. Not a big industrial bakery — just a cafe with a bakery display thats restocked every morning with items that taste like someone actually cared about making them.
WHY CHOOSE THE UNUSUAL
Our cinnamon rolls are a bit famous at this point. Sweet, sticky, warm if you time it right. Best with a latte or a flat white. The muffins are dense and moist in the good way — chocolate, blueberry, and seasonal flavors. Cookies are chewy, thick, and generous.
Everything pairs with our specialty coffee. Thats the whole idea: good bakery items, good coffee, same place, fair prices.
